Hello future student, it may seem like a drag at first in order to stay in pathways but trust me it is worth it. It may seem like it isn’t worth all of the work you have to put into it but the college 1 class they make you take and all the events they make you attend help. I never was one to go out of my way and talk to others, I was very quiet and distanced myself from others on purpose. Once I got through the first couple weeks of school I realized that in order to succeed you had to talk to people. Going to the events you meet a lot of new people who are in them same exact position that you are in and it is a great way to start off talking to others. In order to get the most out of your first semester you have to apply yourself. You can’t just sit in the back of the class and not do anything, you are going to not understand things and it is highly important that you seek help. The first 3 weeks I didn’t understand some things in the class, I put it off and when it came to the test those few things became a huge part of the test and I failed it. After this experience whenever I didn’t understand something I immediately asked the teacher for help. I got all the info I needed to understand by the time the test came I got an A because I understood all of the material. Another thing that pathways provides is access to the TLC room. The TLC room in V102 is a place where people can go to study or get help. They have people there that can help you in almost any subject that you need help in. They also have a lot of computers there so if you need to access the internet for research or anything related to school you can do so. The TLC can help you with your education plan. They can tell you what classes that you need to take based on your major and what you want to do. They can help you make a schedule to fit your needs. Lastly if you stay in pathways you can get priority registration for the next semester if you fulfil all of the requirements that they have in place. Priority registration is a huge advantage against all other students at Pasadena City College. The first semester I didn’t have priority registration and it was very hard to get into a class. All the classes I wanted filled up before my registration date and I have to remake my whole schedule in 30 min. It was so stressful and my schedule was all over the place. All my class times were far apart and it was a hectic schedule. Pathways priority registration is a huge advantage and can get you the classes you want and need before others fill up the spaces. All in all, Pathways is a great program to be in to help you get through your first semester.
This picture shows how much studying is involved in order to succeed.
